Kid Navigator

Pick a random spot in or near the town where you live. Mark it on the map and ask your child to navigate you to the location. If you're using an electronic map, make sure you turn off the location finder. Even better if you have a hard copy map to use.

Let the child sit in the front seat and make all the decisions on where to turn (make the turn even if it's wrong). Teach them about the cardinal directions and how to locate landmarks in the real world that can be located on the map. They will learn the basics of reading directional road signs, where to locate street signs, how clover leafs work, and that just because 2 roads intersect on the map doesn't mean they intersect in real life!

Create a reward for their hard work. Pick a target location where you can enjoy a treat after they've successfully navigated you to the spot.

Memory Palace

Watch an instructional video on how to create your own memory palace. Walk around your house with your children and help them create their own personal memory palace. Give them a list of random things to memorize. Give them a few minutes to run through their new found memorization technique. You will be amazed at how fast they can accurately recite a random list.
